Thankful

The things I'm thankful for do not change from year to year. The list just gets bigger.

You know, sometimes your host might go around the dinner table and have everyone tell what they are thankful for. While this is a sweet exercise in not forgetting what the day should be all about - it's uncomfortable for me.

It's kind of like winning an Academy award and realizing on your way up the steps to accept the statue from Ashton Kutcher and Chloris Leachman, that you've forgotten someone on your list. Embarrassing, yes, but mostly, I just don't want to leave out some of the most important people - or things, I am thankful for.

So, today, my tiny little family is on the top of my list. Well, the top of my list I will share on the blog.

Apparently blog spot does eventually have a limit to how large a post can be.

I am thankful for the man who married me. He moved from a life in California to marry me and to make a new life in Minnesota. I love him like I never thought I could love another human being. I am thankful that he loves my dear parents and they love him right back.

I am thankful for the son he brought to my life. I won't have children of my own - Garrett is my only son. I proudly call him my son and try never to refer to him as my stepson. I love this child.

I am thankful for the people who prayed and prayed for another child. After having a child between my sister and I that passed away after 5 short hours of life, my parents were afraid to try again. My mother prayed to God to give her another daughter - and she had me soon after. Thank you mom and dad for wanting another child in your life.

For wanting me.
