I remember you...

"have a great weekend!"

"what are you doing to celebrate Memorial Day?"

"Happy Memorial Day!"

These were the Friday going home "goodbyes" I heard as I left the office.

Friends, please remember this isn't just an extra day off or the summer party "kick off", it's meant to be a day of remembrance of those who have fought for our freedom. Of those who's lives have been cut short in service to their country.

War is inevitable.

It will continue to happen even after I am long long gone from this world. But we fight for something intangible - something that we can't really put our hands on - freedom and fairness.

Today my son comes home from the Naval Academy for the month of June. For the last three years I have known where his head was when it hit a pillow. I have one more year of that comfort before he will be absorbed into the Navy. There will be many many days that I know not where he sleeps... it will be difficult for me, a mother. But he serves his beloved country under my complete and utter respect and pride.

Remember them... all of them. Always.
