What do you believe in? I believe in the sun, even when it isn't shining. And, I believe God sends me rabbits as a reminder to live consciously.

This morning, I also believe there are rabbits in my yard who are happier because I feed them apples when it snows.

Over the past few days we've received about 5 inches of new snow. It really is lovely. I don't mind it because I like the ugly to be covered by the pretty white stuff.

But, along with covering the 'ugly' the snow also covers naturally occurring food for my favorite wildlife - the rabbit. They really have to dig to find something nourishing to eat. Well, all the wildlife have to do this...

We live in an apartment complex, on the inner-most side of the building. The building is shaped like a horseshoe with a courtyard and swimming pool in the middle. We are on the first floor and can walk out our patio to the pool. We love it. And, so do the bunnies! It's a nice enclosure where they can romp and live.

There are about 6 or 7 rabbits who live in our courtyard. They come around all year long and I really love it. I believe that a rabbit is what some would call a 'power animal' for me. When I see a rabbit, I stop to breathe, think, and remember the basics of life - what am I thankful for? Where did I come from and where am I going? What's the rush? Live now...

I call them my "good faith" animal. I don't believe in 'luck'. I believe things happen for a reason. We may never know what that reason is... and, well, we have to be okay with that.

So, today, I celebrate the rabbits who come to my patio looking for an apple. They nose it around in the snow and munch to their little heart's content. You won't see rabbits playing much, but it sure is sweet when they nose my apples around in the snow... reminding me to breathe, live and love.

This post reminds me of the story of the Velveteen Rabbit. As an adult, I fully relate to the questioning of the rabbit... and, my mom is my skin horse.

Look up the story and read it. Take your time to absorb it... it's worth it.

What a super idea. Apples for the bunnies. I have tons of them around. Maybe I'll start tossing them some food too!!

Happy Snowy Monday!
